I am submitting my daughter Tearnie Jo Ragland.
Tearnie is a 16 year old at Nimitz High School and visiting Dr. Powell and starting his MeaRevive Program has saved her life. She has struggled with weight since about the 5th. grade. She has always been very active and was very involved in cheerleading with a Rec League through the City Of Irving, a Competition League as well as cheer with her Middle School and High School Teams. With being so involved she had gained a lot of muscle and had serious Asthma. She was a freshman in High School and had gained so much weight it was very difficult for her to have a good day. She was having difficulty just breathing, was sick a lot and very depressed. She had always been an outgoing young child and this was such a set back for her. She didn’t want to get up and go to School and had stopped hanging out with her friends. She had given up on life and as a mother I was very worried. I worried each day with wonder of what was going to happen. There were times she would go into the restroom at school during classes and stay until the end of the class to come out. She was very angry and not happy and quit her Competition Cheer Team which she loved, she had gained so much weight she hated going. She decided she didn’t want to cheer for her High School and quit that as well. She was over 200 lbs. and was wearing AXL and size 16 – 18 in jeans. I was in a panic as to what to do. Our regular physician had worked with us and I finally told him I was done, I needed something that would help her and I didn’t care what that was. I was willing to do what I could to help this child. This child that had been the life of the party until now, the child that was out going and so well liked by her peers.
We visited Dr. Powell and from that day on not only has her life changed but our families life has changed. Tearnie is now wearing an AS or YXL in shirts and size 8 – 10 in jeans and is again the life of the party. She has rejoined her Cheer Competition League and has made a big impact with that team. The Cheer Coaches are on cloud nine because Tearnie was always the leader of this group and with her gone they had lost a spark of competitiveness. This program saved her life, I am positive of this fact! I can only imagine where we would be right now without joining this program, it would not be in a good place. Tearnie is happy and smiling again and is more involved in School, Church and outside activities than ever. She has not had asthma flair up in months. Her face is clear and shiny and she is full of energy. She is positive and I am so thankful for this program! Tearnie deserves this, she has worked very hard to be a healthy young lady and I am so proud of her. She is a walking testament to what the program can and will do to a person.
Her father says the only downfall to what has happened to her body since starting the program is the boys – All the boys, he says. They flock like geese around trying to get a date or even a smile from her.
